Artefacts of Gaiety

In May 2019, my class organized the 'Tongues' exhibition at Pink Pank, Rotterdam. The general theme was "language". For my work, I thought about how DNA carries its own message. A message on how to construct something/someone.
Therefore, I posed the question to myself:

“If someone were to test my DNA, what message would they get?”

Balloons.

For some time now, balloons have been an infatuation of mine. As a consequence, I made a collection of works with balloons as the main object. Ultimately, my work for this particular exhibition transformed into four headpieces serving as extensions of my own personality. Each headpiece represented my constant state of anticipating fun.

During the exhibition, I wore my headpieces and walked around presenting myself as the artwork.

Additionally, stands were specially made to showcase the headpieces when I wasn't present.
